Indoor Air Quality Services in Los Angeles
Technicians Near You — Same-Day Service in Los Angeles
Indoor air in a typical Los Angeles home is two to five times more polluted than the outdoor air, according to the EPA — and that gap widens during wildfire smoke events, Santa Ana wind dust storms, and high-pollen weeks. EA Mechanical builds layered indoor air quality systems for homes across the San Fernando Valley: HEPA filtration, UV-C germicidal lamps, whole-home humidifiers, and dedicated air purifiers. Call (818) 988-9060 for a free in-home assessment.
This page is the hub for our four indoor air quality service lines. Each spoke below covers cost, install detail, brand options, and the LA-specific reasons it does or does not make sense for your home. Most homeowners end up combining two or three of these layers — a MERV 13 filter retrofit plus a UV-C lamp at the coil, for example, or a bypass HEPA cabinet plus a whole-home humidifier in winter.
We do not sell single-vendor packages. Our techs assess static pressure, blower capacity, ductwork condition, and household health needs (asthma, immune compromise, infants, pets) before we recommend equipment. The right answer for a 1950s Tujunga ranch with original ducts is rarely the right answer for a tightly sealed Burbank new-build.

Choose Your Indoor Air Quality Solution
Pick the spoke page that matches the problem you are trying to solve. If you are not sure where to start, call (818) 988-9060 and we will scope a layered plan for your home.
- Air Purifier Installation — whole-home HEPA, electronic precipitator, and PCO/PHI systems for wildfire smoke and traffic particulates. See /air-purifier-installation/.
- HEPA Filtration & MERV 13+ Upgrades — filter-slot retrofits and dedicated bypass HEPA cabinets for true 99.97% particulate capture. See /hepa-filtration/.
- UV Germicidal Light — UV-C lamps mounted at the evaporator coil to neutralize mold, bacteria, and biological contaminants. See /uv-germicidal-light/.
- Whole-Home Humidifier & Dehumidifier — Aprilaire, Honeywell, and steam systems wired into your HVAC for winter dryness; dehumidifiers for coastal-zone homes. See /whole-home-humidifier/.
- On-Site IAQ Testing — VOC (volatile organic compound) screening, mold sampling at the evaporator coil and ductwork, and carbon monoxide (CO) measurement near furnace and water heater. Included in our free in-home assessment.
How a Layered IAQ Strategy Works
No single device handles every pollutant. Filters trap particles. UV-C destroys microorganisms. Humidifiers and dehumidifiers stabilize moisture (which controls dust mites and mold). Air purifiers add a dedicated stage for fine smoke particulate. The most effective LA-area systems combine two or three layers tuned to the home and the household.
Duct sealing and routine duct cleaning sit underneath all of this. Leaky ducts pull unfiltered attic air into supply registers and undo a chunk of whatever filtration you install. If you are upgrading filtration, ask us to test duct leakage at the same visit — see our duct cleaning and replacement page for that work.
Signs Your Home May Have Indoor Air Quality Problems
- Persistent stuffiness even with the system running
- May indicate inadequate ventilation or a system that recirculates stale air without sufficient fresh air intake. A whole-home purifier or UV-C addition often helps.
- Dust settles quickly on surfaces after cleaning
- Suggests your current filtration is not capturing fine particles. A standard fiberglass filter may be insufficient — see the HEPA filtration spoke for upgrade options.
- Household members experiencing more allergy or respiratory symptoms
- Indoor air can be 2–5 times more polluted than outdoor air according to the EPA, especially in tightly sealed homes. A layered IAQ plan generally resolves it.
- Musty or chemical odors that linger near the air handler
- Often points to mold growth on the evaporator coil — a common application for UV-C germicidal lamps. See the UV germicidal light spoke for detail.
These symptoms can have multiple causes. For safe, accurate diagnosis and repair, call E & A Mechanical at (818) 988-9060. Attempting HVAC repairs without proper training and licensing can void warranties and create safety hazards.
